Bizen Ware (Sake tasting cup set)

Bizen potteries are called the “art of clay and fire” and known for its durability and practicality nearly 1000 years.

It is made without glaze, the colors and the patterns created by the fire are unique to individual piece.

There are no two pieces look the same.

The touch is rough in the beginning although as you use and cherish it, it will become smoother and shinier. Please love and nurture it.

Due to the hand crafted items, the size, weight and appearance of each piece may slightly different.

That is not a defect but a character.

The pictures and the pieces you receive may or may not match as it may be allotted different pieces from the listed pictures.

These are designed primarily for sake tasting. The different sizes and shapes create different tasting experiences with the same liquid. You can try with simple water (experience the difference in the taste and the texture of the same water!) The dent on the side of the cup plays a roll of a handle. Fit your thumb on the dent then snuggle into your palm. Due to the thinness of the pottery without handles, it is not recommended to use for the hot beverages but imagination is yours.
